FAQ

FAQs and important information to make the most of this years Spring ‘Sing’ Sahavas

Are meals provided?

Yes,

  • Friday dinner
  • Saturday and Sunday lunch and dinner
  • Monday lunch

Meals are being cooked by Baba lovers in the Avatar’s Abode Kitchen and will be available to buy. Omnivore, vegetarian and gluten free diets will be provided for.

What should I bring?

  • A home baked cake or slice is very welcome as a contribution for morning, afternoon tea or supper.
  • Please bring instruments, favourite poems or books, materials for art and craft or hand sewing for ongoing art-making.

Can I volunteer when I get there?

Yes, you can volunteer at any time throughout the Sahavas. In addition to the communal meal prep and pack up that is on the program, you can volunteer for other activities. These will be listed in the kitchen and you can put your name down to do any job at any time, or just pitch in.

Can I perform my favourite rock, blues or hiphop song or does it have to be a song about God in a devotional style?

Yes, you can sing a song you love in any genre in the spirit of “entertaining The Beloved”. The emphasis on pre- and after-Arti singing at this event is to encourage everyone to enjoy participating in singing and to experiment in all the ways we can sing with and for God – we look forward to generating new material, getting more familiar with old songs, and gaining some extra comfort or deeper connection to take to the stage next Anniversary – maybe a 12 piece band or choir of 60 🙂 This more intimate sahavas setting provides the opportunity to relax and focus on building our art, from the heart. The singing session coordinators will be indicated at the Sahavas, so you can let them know if you have something special to share.

If I’m a first time visitor, can someone show me around and can I view the archive room?

Yes, Jeanette Young is your pilgrim/visitor liaison person and archivist who will show you around.

If I have a creative art project or workshop to share, like reading something out or teaching a skill or writing a song, how do I instigate it?

Write it up on the ‘Spontaneous creative activities’ whiteboard in the kitchen. If possible, it will be announced at the closest mealtime. Elischa, Jeda, Sage or Mehera M. can help if you need assistance (for example, deciding on a location).
