An exhibition display of the Baba Birthday cards donated from Bernard Bruford to the Avatar’s Abode Archive (December 2023) opened for Baba’s birthday celebration on the 25th of February 2025.

It included a physical display in Baba’s house and a touchscreen digital display to offer explanation and background.

The series of cards represents the Bruford family’s collection (incomplete) of cards designed each year and sent to them by Meherjee Karkaria, one of the Eastern men disciples who travelled to Australia with Meher Baba. Each features a handwritten greeting from Meherjee and his family and naming each of the Brufords. The cards were printed with a front page, which is often a separate outer page, and inside was a quote by Meher Baba or by Francis Brabazon.

Vince Hallam did much research and created the touchscreen display presentation. View this as an online presentation here.

One feature of the cards is the use of the ‘Meher Year’. Francis adopted this practice in his writings and records. Baba Year signifies the age of Baba’s human form; and since Meher Baba was born in 1894, so Baba Year 69, is the Gregorian calendar year 1963 and so on. Baba’s birthday is always celebrated on the 25th of February, although in the Zoroastrian calendar this date changes.
