About Vinod Khilnani
Vinod Khilnani is a second-generation Baba lover who spent many years in Beloved Baba’s company as a child and teenager. His father, Judge Prem Khilnani, had been seeking God and after a long search, met Meher Baba in 1958 at Guruprasad in Poona, India. When Baba returned from the West that year, He invited Prem’s wife, Girja, to see Him. Girja had sought God in human form as a child, but it was up to Baba to prove to her that He was just that. And He did. Eventually, the children, Vinod and Raj were brought to Baba. In Baba’s natural and loving way, the family became His.
In 1962, Meher Baba invited the Khilnani family to live at the Trust compound as Baba’s tenants. Vinod believes this was the best time of His life. It was here that Baba visited their home on many occasions including one visit where Baba inaugurated the Baba Center that Vinod and Raj created for Him. The Kalchuri children next door had created their own Center and Baba was up to the task to choose which Center He loved more!
After four glorious years, Prem was transferred to Alibagh, a seashore town in Maharashtra. But despite the beauty, they longed to live near Baba. Baba suggested for Prem to apply for a transfer back to Nagar. This was an impossible task since judges are never posted twice at the same spot. Baba touched the application letter and off it went. In return, Prem received a promotion, and because he now held a different title, he came back to Ahmednagar. The family stayed in Nagar until Baba dropped His body in 1971 and were there when Baba dropped His body.
Vinod will speak about the experiences of His family, anecdotes from Meherazad, Meherabad, the Trust compound and Guruprasad. He will also share his own interactions with Baba as a child and what life with Baba was and is for him. The family received a treasure trove of letters from Beloved Baba that contain messages full of His loving guidance. Vinod loves to reread them and will share from them too.
